Wishard Health Services

145 Years of Excellence

145excellence.jpgFor more than 145 years, Wishard Memorial Hospital has provided Indianapolis-area residents with the highest quality healthcare. See historical photos.

The history of Wishard Health Services can be traced back to 1855 when a smallpox epidemic prompted Indianapolis to begin building a hospital. Since that era, the institution has evolved and grown into a diverse healthcare system providing a full range of care.

Wishard Health Services is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, which evaluates hospital performance and quality of service. Wishard includes a Level I Trauma Center, Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Wishard, Lockefield Village Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, outpatient surgery services, a full range of women's services and much more. Working with the physicians of the IU School of Medicine, the dedicated Wishard staff is committed to providing patients with the best primary and specialty care available.

We are very proud of Wishard's mission, our history in Indianapolis and our role in contributing to the health and well being of our citizens. Our pride is reflected in efficient and dedicated patient care so that you, your family and friends can be confident in the attention you will receive while in our care.
