Wishard chaplains are on site during the day and on call during the night. They are available for counseling, crisis assistance and spiritual care. If you need the services of a chaplain, please do not hesitate to ask the staff to call or page the chaplain on duty.
When you are a patient, a Wishard chaplain will make a personal visit to your room. During this time, the chaplain will answer any questions you may have about your patient rights, advance directives or other matters. The chaplain will also bring a copy of your patient rights and the SPEAK UP! brochure to your room. The SPEAK UP! brochure explains how you can play an active role in your healthcare by discussing your care with your physicians and nurses.
The chaplains are pleased to provide sacramental rites (e.g., communion, confession and anointing) as needed or requested. The chaplains can also assist you in contacting your own clergy if you prefer.
The Chapel is located along the central hallway of the main floor of the hospital between the Gift Shop and the main elevators. Except during daily services, the Chapel is available for private meditation 24 hours a day. A schedule of daily services and special observances is posted outside of the Chapel.
For more information on any of these services, please contact the Chaplaincy Office at (317) 630-7000.
