General Information
The Post Graduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency at Wishard Health Services (WHS) in Indianapolis, IN is defined as an organized, directed, postgraduate training in general pharmacotherapy. The program focuses on the development of knowledge, skills and behaviors required for successful provision of pharmaceutical care in the ambulatory and inpatient settings while incorporating the Scope of Practice of the WHS Department of Pharmacy Services. The purpose of the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program at WHS is to prepare individuals to enter specialty residency or general clinical practice as a member of an integrated health care team focused on achieving optimal outcomes associated with medication use.
Upon successful completion of the Wishard Health Services PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, the resident shall competently be able to:
- Provide patient-specific pharmaceutical care in the ambulatory and inpatient settings
- Educate patients, students, and health care professionals
- Apply the skills of continuous quality improvement in conjunction with practice partners to improve the medication use process
- Demonstrate behaviors consistent with self-improvement and lifelong learning
- Demonstrate practice skills consistent with competent pharmacists
