About Us

Wishard Health Services is one of America’s five largest safety net health systems, providing care in nearly 1 million outpatient visits each year. Wishard’s mission is to Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve, with special emphasis on the vulnerable populations of Marion County, Indiana. Wishard is one of the leading providers of health care in Central Indiana, with physicians of the Indiana University School of Medicine providing a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services within our 316-bed hospital and inpatient facilities as well as 10 community health centers located throughout Indianapolis. 

Wishard is home to the first of two Adult Level I trauma centers in Indiana and the region’s only adult burn center, the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Wishard. Accredited by The Joint Commission, Wishard has nationally recognized programs, including Midtown Community Mental Health Center and the IU National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health, and is the supervising hospital for Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services, the city’s primary EMS provider.

Wishard is in the process of building new facilities to replace our current campus, parts of which are nearly 100 years old. The new Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital and Eskenazi Health campus will stand less than ¼ mile west of Wishard’s current home. The new system name, Eskenazi Health, will recognize the $40 million contribution of Sidney and Lois Eskenazi toward the new hospital campus. Our new, modern and efficient facilities will enable us to provide even more excellent quality care to patients and will be welcoming and comfortable.
