Indianapolis, October 15, 2007 – As the seasons change and the flu season approaches, it is important to maintain regular health exams. On Saturday, November 3, Cottage Corner Community Health Center and a host of community organizations will team up to present the 12th annual Harvest of Health. A comprehensive team of healthcare professionals will be on hand to answer questions, administer free health screenings and flu shots.
Harvest of Health will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cottage Corner Community Health Center, 1434 South Shelby Street in Indianapolis. Health screenings provided at no cost include blood pressure, oral cancer, HIV and depression. Participants may visit the wide variety of information booths on mental health services, diabetes, assistance programs, primary care services, wellness and Hispanic resources. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department will also be on hand to give information about childhood safety. Kid’s BMV will be at the health fair to make ID Cards for children.
“Harvest of Health offers an opportunity for the entire community to receive free health screenings, flu shots and obtain helpful advice from medical experts,” said Dr. Mark Tiritilli, medical director, Cottage Corner Community Health Center. “We encourage the whole community to take advantage of a variety of information that will be available on health-related topics and screenings to improve their health.”
Fair participants will not walk away hungry. Refreshments will be offered and free children’s books will be passed out. Parents are encouraged to bring their children. There will also be a chance to win door prizes.
Sponsors for Harvest for Health include the Wishard Memorial Foundation, IU Medical Group and Wishard Health Services.
The Cottage Corner Community Health Center provides healthcare services for the community in the areas of family planning, social services, primary care, mental health and dental services. The center is one of eight Wishard Health Services community health centers located throughout Indianapolis.
