Indianapolis, August 29, 2005 - On Saturday, September 17, North Arlington Community Health Center will host a free community resource fair to highlight the numerous resources and programs available to assist the public in Indianapolis. Fair organizers are hopeful that the event will raise awareness and encourage the public to utilize the services provided within their local community.

The community resource fair will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North Arlington Community Health Center, 2505 North Arlington Avenue in Indianapolis. In addition to dozens of information booths, face painting and a limited amount of bike helmets will be available.

"The resource fair is a great opportunity for members of our community to learn about services that are offered throughout the city. Not only do we have information available from numerous organizations, we also have door prizes that will be awarded," said Dr. Cynthia Reed, medical director, North Arlington Community Health Center. "It's a fun way to bring helpful information to the community."

Program representatives will provide information booths on a variety of topics including health coverage assistance, fire safety, housing, primary care services, education and employment opportunities and more. Some of the highlights of the information that will be provided during the event include voting information, crime prevention, programs and services for older adults, Indygo's transportation system, services for victims of violence and abuse and mental health resources. Spanish interpreters will also be available.

Representatives from the Indianapolis Police Department, Warren Township Fire Department and Wishard Health Services will be on hand to answer questions. Fair participants may also enter a drawing to win door prizes, including a DVD player.

Participating organizations in the North Arlington Community Resource and Information Fair include the American Red Cross, Citizen's Gas, Covering Kids and Families, Marion County Election Board, Fathers and Families Resource Center, Fifth Third Bank, Forest Manor Multi-Service Center, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, IndyGo, Martin University, Neighborhood Alliance for Child Safety, Head Start, Reach Out and Read, WIC and Midtown Community Mental Health Center.
