Indianapolis, November 22, 2005 - Wishard Health Services announces that Jim N. Hayman has been appointed to the position of chief operating officer.

Hayman comes to Wishard from Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas, where he had worked since 1985.

"Jim was hired after a very extensive national search for a COO, and he is superbly qualified for this position," said Dr. Lisa Harris, chief executive officer and medical director at Wishard Health Services.

Hayman's responsibilities at Wishard will include providing day-to-day management while leading the development and implementation of programs and services that support Wishard's mission, vision and goals.

While at Parkland, Hayman served as the senior vice president of clinical support services and was administratively responsible for more than 1,000 employees in pathology, radiology, pharmacy, purchasing, dietary, poison center and materials management. Parkland employs a staff of more than 7,000 employees and consists of a 964-bed county teaching facility and a network of seven primary clinics.

Some of his major accomplishments at Parkland included implementing a new laboratory information system, implementing clinical pharmacy services and overseeing a $10 million renovation and expansion of the radiology and medical imaging services. During this time, he also served as a clinical assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Texas at Austin.

Prior to his tenure at Parkland, Hayman served as director of pharmacy services at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Hayman received both his bachelor's degree and his master's degree in pharmacy from the University of Mississippi. He also received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas.

"The years I spent at Parkland Health and Hospital System have prepared me for the very important responsibilities that I will face here at Wishard. I eagerly look forward to this opportunity and I'm excited to work with the leadership team and the entire staff at Wishard," Hayman said.

Hayman's new role was most recently held by Steve Nathan, an executive from FTI Cambio Health Solutions, a healthcare management firm.
